I am the founder of the interactive media company plusinsight, specialising in design
technology, communications, and information-related and educational products.
With more than nine years of experience in the industry, I have managed the integration
of computer-based systems in design communications for a variety of design firms and software
companies like Pixelpark GmbH, Berlin, Germany, Unified Field, Inc. New York, NY, USA, and
artemedia ag/Filmstudios Babelsberg, Germany.
Besides my professional work at plusinsight I am teaching Mediaphilosophy and Mediadesign
at the Technical University for Applied Sciences in Berlin. I got a Master’s degree in Fine
Arts from the University of Fine Arts (1994), Berlin, Germany and a diploma degree in Visual
Communication and Design with special emphasis on interactive media(1992).
What does communication mean? Does it mean, leaving messages or trails of existence. Does
it mean: one person sending out one message and somewhere one person that may or may not read,
listen, interprets and understands.
There are 3 components of communication: information, message and understanding. They are
functionalities. They are not activity. Why not activity? Communication happens in any case. It is
a constitution. Communication does not claim any validity for any human being. Information, message
and understanding are not even components of communication that can be assembled.
There is no information outside of communication, there is no message outside of communication
and there is no understanding outside of communication. A communicative system is a complete and
fully functional system. The components that make communication are created by communication.
It is a self-reproductive system.
Human immersion by communication may change though.
Quote of my dreams by Richard Brautigan:
“I like to think (it has to be) of a cybernetic ecology where we are free of our labours and joined
back to nature, returned to our mammal brothers and sisters, and all watched over by machines of loving
grace”
